Pauline Thomas
Pauline Thomas was Headteacher at Abertillery Comprehensive School from 2002 until 2009 and has spent her career in the education sector, having obtained an honours degree in Chemistry at Nottingham University and an MA in Educational Management with the Open University in 1998.
She taught at four schools in England before moving to Wales where she became Deputy Head of Monmouth Comprehensive School in 1999. She completed NPQH at Cardiff University in 2001. From 1999 to 2008 she was an elected member of the Association of Schools and College Leaders where she served as Membership Officer for three years, before being elected as Honorary Secretary in 2005. She was appointed to the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales in 2007 and became a School Improvement Partner for English schools in the same year. She is now working in 6 schools in England in this role and also advising a number of Welsh head teachers.
Pauline has a passion for enabling youngsters from all backgrounds to raise their aspirations and believes there are many children in Wales who would benefit from, but are not planning to enter, Higher Education.
